Where our data comes from

Last updated July 26, 2026

Every fact on a AbateLocal listing came from somewhere. This page names the kinds of sources we use and says plainly how far each one can be trusted.

The sources

The business itself
When an owner claims a listing, what they enter becomes the record. This is the strongest source we have, and it overrides everything below it.
The business's own website
Where we could confirm that a website really belongs to a business, we prefer the company's own description of its work over anyone else's summary. This does not apply everywhere. Plenty of listings have no website we could confirm, and those keep the more cautious source below.
Public business listings and mapping data, including Google
Location, hours, and contact details largely come from public business listings. Where a description on a page came from Google, the page says so directly. We do not present another company's star score or review count as a number we produced.
Customer reviews collected by us
Reviews submitted through this site are moderated before they publish and are kept separate from anything gathered elsewhere. We never republish another platform's review text as our own.
Published research, for guides and cost ranges
Cost figures and guide claims cite their source on the page. Where a number is a national range rather than a local one, we label it as a national range.

How sources rank against each other

When two sources disagree, we do not average them and we do not pick the more flattering one. They are ranked:

  1. The business, through a claimed listing.
  2. The business's own website, where we confirmed it is theirs.
  3. Public business listings and mapping data.

A disagreement between sources is flagged for a person to look at rather than quietly resolved. Where we cannot tell which is right, the value does not change and the field can stay empty. Withholding beats publishing something wrong.

What each source is good for, and what it is not

Location and hours mostly come from public listing data, so they are as current as that data is. A business that moved recently, or that keeps different hours than it published, will be wrong on our page until someone tells us. Claiming a listing is the fastest fix.

Descriptions of services are the field we most often take from the business's own website, because that is the company describing its own work. Where no confirmed website exists, the description is written from public information and is more general.

Cost information

No cost figure appears on this site without a source attached to it. Some ranges are national and are shown as national. Some are adjusted for local labor costs, and where that is true the page says which method produced the number.

These are planning ranges, not quotes. They are not gathered from bids in your city, and no range on this site should be treated as a price a specific business will honor. Get written quotes before hiring.

How current any of this is

Different fields refresh on different schedules. Where a page can honestly say when its information was last checked, it does. Where it cannot, it shows nothing rather than a stale note styled to look current.

We are a small operation and we do not pretend to re-check every listing continuously. What we can say is that we do not publish a freshness claim we cannot support.

Corrections

If a fact on your listing is wrong, claim the listing and change it, or email will@localpro.dev. An owner correction takes priority over every source above.
